Two-time breast cancer survivor, Andrea Watson

The university hospital of the west indies (uhwi) held its pink day celebrations on friday at the institution.

Derria Cornwall, consultant radiologist at UHWI, said the event is held to raise awareness for breast cancer, attracting scores of women in the fight against the dreadful disease, which is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths among Jamaican women.

"We are in warrior mode against breast cancer and we want to take this bull by the horn and fight it," Cornwall told Loop News.

"In more than one ways," she added. "In helping the women who already have the disease to get treatment, and women who don't have the disease, to encourage them to get screened."
